In Everprint Glass’ ongoing series of artistic collaborations, artist Sean Diamond was an obvious partner. His unique artwork of light and colour explorations seemed to match effortlessly with the innovative philosophies of Everprint Glass. Expressing images of light, his art is the embodiment of energy – something Everprint has in abundance especially when creating new images and assisting customers with their visions.

Sean’s Light Paintings for Everprint Glass have found their way into homes around Australia as well as commercial and retail spaces such as the Miele Kitchen Galleries in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. In an artist’s statement for Without Pier Gallery in Melbourne, Sean’s art is described thus:

“For years Sean has been stretching the time
represented in a photograph, taking the subject matter and reconfiguring it into
abstract expressionism. The lights of the night spilling into the darkness have become his palette.
Standing in one place sometimes for hours until the picture that complements the scene and his feelings finally reveals itself.”

Everprint Glass and The Splashback Company is proud of it’s ongoing association with Sean and his stunning artwork. Check out our product galleries for examples of the results of this unique collaboration. Be inspired, like we so often are, to open your minds – and your home – to the endless possibilities of Everprint Glass.

2010 Logie Award winner for Most Popular Reality Program, Masterchef Australia, is just one of the latest high profile television programs to feature The Splashback Company’s glass products. The hugely successful show, based on the equally popular UK version, chose a Coloursmart custom white splashback for a super-slick and sophisticated finish to compliment set designer, Chris Batson’s well carefully created kitchen environment.

The show, which pits 24 contestants in a culinary battle between themselves and three straight-talking judges, was a ratings smash in 2010, with the final episode of season two becoming the third highest watched television program in Australian history.

Not quite as high pressure but just as entertaining, The Lifestyle Channel’s reality cooking show, Come Dine With Me, is another gastro-reality show to feature a Splashback company product. Lachlan Hosking, star of week two, series 3, chose to fit his designer kitchen with an image of Indian spices using Everprint Glass technology from The Splashback Company. The result was a stunning visual addition to Lachlan’s deliberately functional kitchen.

These shows come hot off the heels of the Classic Splashback’s cameo appearance in Channel 9′s top rating renovation reality show, Renovation Rescue. The team chose to install a Rhubarb colour Classic Splashback to provide a rich hue and make the splashback a feature in itself.

Much of colour selection comes down to personal preference and individuality but bare in mind the topic of colour has a nasty habit of dividing opinion! So what colour are you?

Much of colour selection comes down to personal preference and individuality but bare in mind the topic of colour has a nasty habit of dividing opinion! So what colour are you?

Choosing colours for interiors and associated fixtures and fittings is something we get asked about often. Of course much of colour selection comes down to personal preference and individuality but bare in mind the topic of colour has a nasty habit of dividing opinion! So if we put aside our passion for hot pink and canary yellow for a minute, let’s look at a few tips to help select the colour, not just for your splashback but generally around the home.

Remember, colour can change the apparent size and shape of spaces. Cool colours recede and seem to increase the size of a room while warm colours advance and decrease the apparent size of a room. So how big is your kitchen? Is it relatively small and you’d like to create the impression of a greater space? For a start, your walls could do with being white (be brave, avoid warm shades of off-white or ivory if you are doing this). Your splashback could contrast this in its colour and finish – how about a silky smooth Prosatin or a subtle image from Everprint Glass? What if your kitchen is expansive and needs ‘anchoring’? You might like to think about a darker, richer colour or even a bold image for your splashback to help enclose the space and create greater intimacy.

It is common to choose colour schemes from one of three different categories. ‘Harmonious’ colour schemes are based on similar colours close together on the colour wheel like yellow and orange.’Complementary’ colour schemes are chosen from colours that are on the opposite sides of the colour wheel such as red and green. ‘Variations’ on one colour, such as three different shades of blue, can also work.

We’ve all heard about the links between colour and psychology. So what are they? White is stylish and, like grey and black, it amplifies the effects of other colours. See how punchy a vibrant green splashback looks against a minimal white wall! Black is elegant, sleek and sophisticated but obviously lacks a sense of playfulness. Yellow is considered a bright, warm and cheerful colour. Blue is calming, soothing and cool. Green is also considered soothing, reassuring and natural. Deep Purple indicates opulence, while lighter violet is feminine. Bare in mind that although red and orange are ‘exciting’ colours, they tend to make people uneasy. So what colour are you?

Residential interior designers are increasingly turning to frameless shower screen systems in bathrooms. We appreciate the challenges brought forward by innovative designers who seek to maximise small spaces or embellish the larger ones and may the trend towards frameless showers continue.

Residential interior designers are increasingly turning to frameless shower screen systems in bathrooms. There are a multitude of reasons for what’s surely amounting to a lot more than a trend or fad. In a small bathroom in today’s modern day inner city, a frameless system has the affect of creating a greater sense of space. Often this is coupled with the absense of a shower base to maximise the seamless transition through the confined area. No frames means less shadows which in turn results in greater light and less visual clutter.

Recently in a larger bathrooms we’ve seen some really innovative and stunning showers. Wet rooms are a growing trend providing an opulent but functional showering experience. Where space is less of an issue, a large frameless shower is a striking piece of architecture in itself and with great attention paid to details such as stainless steel fittings, its a triumph for form following function.

The Splashback Company’s Clear-Space frameless screens features 10mm toughened safety glass to conform to all standards and requirements and can be made to suit any space, large or small. It’s a pleasure working with designers and home owners alike in creating original bathrooms that utilise our frameless screens and systems. We appreciate the challenges brought forward by innovative designers who seek to maximise small spaces or embellish the larger ones and may the trend towards frameless showers continue.
